The First Mark of a Disciple: Loving God (Repentance)
This exercise is not designed to condemn, but to expose falsehood so freedom can follow. Truth heals what deception damages.
Genuine conversion leads to a decisive break with sin and a wholehearted commitment to truth. Yet lying, deception, false impressions, and hypocrisy often persist, even among believers, raising the question of whether truth has fully taken root in the heart.
“Surely You desire integrity in the inner self, and You teach me wisdom deep within.”Psalm 51:6 (CSB)
Prayerfully read each statement. Mark those the Holy Spirit highlights.
Prayerfully renounce every form of falsehood the Spirit reveals.
Self-examination
Answer yes, no, or need to repent.
Are there communications you would not want read publicly?
Are there relationships you would hide if exposed?
Do you appear spiritually stronger than you truly are?
Do you pray to be heard by people rather than by God?
Do you promise prayer and forget to pray?
Do you delay obedience you know God has required?
Do you handle money in ways you would avoid auditing?
Do you benefit from errors that favour you financially?
Do you plan generosity “later” when God asked for “now”?
“Search me, God, and know my heart.”Psalm 139:23
Your summary will show here as you go.
Read slowly.
Truth is not merely spoken, it is lived.
“You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”John 8:32
